In a shocking statement to Fez News, an official source at the Fes Education Delegation confirmed that the educational situation in the Fes Meknes region is further complicated by the huge shortage of qualified teaching staff, which leads to a decline in the quality of education, a high rate of school wastage, and stark disparities between schools.
The source added that the ministry and academy officials have not provided any real initiative to address this crisis, leaving thousands of students facing an unknown fate, especially in the absence of effective solutions to compensate for the shortage of teachers.
“We are throwing students into the unknown. The Internet is not a solution, and private support centers, which operate outside the legal framework, make things worse instead of being part of the solution,” the source said, stressing that relying on virtual lessons does not replace in-person education, in light of the unequal opportunities among students in terms of access to the Internet and modern technologies.
He pointed out that the proliferation of random support centers, which exploit the needs of families without any oversight or regulation, deepens the crisis and creates an educational chaos that makes education a commercial matter rather than a guaranteed right for all.
In light of this situation, the question remains: When will the responsible authorities intervene to find radical solutions to the educational crisis in the region? Will future generations remain hostage to a deteriorating educational reality in the absence of a real reform vision?
