Police officers from the Fez Security Directorate managed to arrest a 26-year-old individual, known for prior criminal records, on the evening of Wednesday, April 23, on suspicion of involvement in an assault and battery case using a bladed weapon. The incident had been documented in a widely circulated video on social media platforms.
This security intervention came as a result of precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST). Field investigations and inquiries led to the identification and arrest of the suspect in the “Zouagha” neighborhood of Fez.
Security services had responded swiftly and seriously to the video, which showed the suspect physically attacking a street cleaner in public with a bladed weapon. The motives behind the assault are still under thorough investigation by the competent authorities.
