The Digital Content Observatory has praised the awareness campaign recently launched by Banque Populaire, which aims to warn its customers against phishing attempts and digital attacks targeting the theft of citizens’ banking and personal data. The observatory considers this initiative a positive model of responsible institutional communication within the Moroccan banking system.
In a statement received by Fès News, the observatory deemed the campaign to reflect an advanced awareness on the part of Banque Populaire of the need to involve customers in preventing cyber threats by providing practical advice in simple and clear language, in addition to offering an official guide that helps in the safe use of online banking services.
The observatory added that Morocco is witnessing a noticeable increase in digital fraud attempts targeting citizens through deceptive messages impersonating banks or government institutions, which necessitates the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, including financial institutions, civil society, and digital actors, to enhance digital trust and protect the electronic rights of users.
The statement concluded by calling on other banking institutions to follow the example of Banque Populaire and intensify awareness campaigns on digital security, while engaging with civil society and specialists in the field to produce joint national awareness content that combats digital crime before it occurs.
