The Moroccan Cinematographic Center has announced the list of films participating in the 24th edition of the Tangier International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from October 18 to 26, 2024. These films will compete in several official categories, including feature films, short films, and documentaries.
For feature films, the selection committee, chaired by producer and director Idriss Merini, along with members such as Nora Saqalli and Mohamed Ahd Ben Souda, has selected 15 films, including:
- “Qissat Wafa” by Abdelali Tahiri
- “Wachm al-Reeh” by Leila Teriki
- “Fanduq al-Salam” by Jamal Belmajoub
- “Samt al-Kamanjat” by Saad Cheraibi
- “Maroukiya Hara” by Hicham Al-Asri
- “Asabats” by Kamal Al-Azraq, among others.
For short narrative and documentary films, the selection committee, led by director Faten Janan Al-Mohammadi, has chosen 15 short films, including:
- “Taht Aqdam Um” by Elias Suhail
- “Al-Yawm al-Akhir” by Khidr Al-Hamdaoui
- “Anin Samit” by Maryam Jabour, among others, reflecting the diversity of cinematic creativity.
In the long documentary category, the selection committee, chaired by director Hassan Bouhrouti, has included 15 documentary films, such as:
- “Kadhb Abyad” by Samah Al-Mudayr
- “Hurras Lakssar” by Aida Boui
- “Rizq min Ward” by Mounia Al-Koumi, showcasing the documentary’s ability to convey rich experiences and subjects.
Additionally, the festival will feature a panorama section showcasing 7 films, including “Akhir Ikhtiyar” by Rashida Al-Sadi and “Khamsa w Khamsin” by Abdel Hai Al-Iraqi.
This festival serves as an important platform to highlight Moroccan cinema and reflects the efforts of artists and creators in presenting diverse cinematic content that expresses their issues and experiences.
