Security Alert in Taza Following the Death of a Gendarme Inside the Barracks – National Unit Investigates Circumstances of the Incident

According to multiple local sources, members of the National Gendarmerie Unit arrived in Taza on Monday to launch a thorough investigation into the death of a gendarme inside the Royal Gendarmerie barracks located at the intersection of 11 January and Moulay Youssef streets.

The same sources indicated that the gendarme, a father of two, took his own life last Sunday, with initial reports suggesting that he may have used his service weapon to commit suicide at his workplace.

The incident triggered a significant security mobilization among the relevant authorities, with a noticeable security presence around the barracks since Sunday night. High-ranking regional and central officials were reportedly on site.

According to the same sources, the investigation led by the National Unit is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, with the aim of uncovering the circumstances and potential motives behind the incident. Final results of the autopsy and technical reports are still awaited.
