Rabat – L’Association des barreaux du Maroc a annoncé, dans un communiqué publié à l’issue d’une réunion d’urgence de son bureau, une nouvelle escalade face au ministre de la Justice, l’accusant de ne pas respecter les accords précédents relatifs aux amendements concernant la profession d’avocat, et estimant que certaines dispositions adoptées portent atteinte à l’indépendance de la profession et à son immunité organisationnelle.
Rabat – The Association of Moroccan Bar Associations announced in a statement issued after an emergency meeting of its office a new escalation against the Minister of Justice, accusing him of failing to respect previous agreements related to amendments concerning the legal profession, and considering that certain approved provisions undermine the profession’s independence and institutional safeguards.

L’Association a affirmé dans le même communiqué que son bureau avait constaté “le non-respect par le ministre de la Justice des amendements proposés par la majorité elle-même”, ainsi que ce qu’elle a qualifié de “recours à des amendements oraux” touchant des dispositions liées à l’indépendance de la profession, estimant que cela contrevient aux règles du travail parlementaire et aux accords gouvernementaux antérieurs.
The Association stated in the same communiqué that its office had recorded “the Minister of Justice’s failure to comply with amendments proposed by the majority itself,” as well as what it described as “resorting to oral amendments” affecting provisions linked to the profession’s independence, considering this contrary to parliamentary procedures and previous governmental agreements.

L’Association a également critiqué ce qu’elle considère comme un “ciblage répété de l’institution du bâtonnier”, soulignant que cette institution représente une “symbolique historique et une position prestigieuse” au sein du système judiciaire national et international, tout en rejetant ce qu’elle a qualifié de “diffamation et d’atteinte délibérée” visant les bâtonniers lors des discussions sur les amendements.
The Association also criticized what it considered a “repeated targeting of the institution of the bar president,” noting that this institution represents a “historical symbol and an established prestigious status” within the national and international justice system, while rejecting what it described as “deliberate defamation and attacks” against bar presidents during discussions on the amendments.

Dans une escalade notable, le bureau de l’Association a annoncé que les bâtonniers des dix-sept barreaux prévoient de tenir des assemblées générales extraordinaires afin de présenter leurs démissions en signe de protestation contre ce qu’ils ont qualifié de “situation irresponsable” et “d’atteinte continue aux constantes de la profession et à ses institutions symboliques”, tout en confirmant qu’ils ne superviseront aucune élection professionnelle actuelle ou future.
In a notable escalation, the Association’s office announced that the presidents of the seventeen bar associations intend to hold extraordinary general assemblies to submit their resignations in protest against what they described as an “irresponsible situation” and a “continuous attack on the profession’s principles and symbolic institutions,” while confirming that they will not oversee any current or future professional elections.

L’Association a également insisté sur le fait que le corps professionnel est “uni et impossible à infiltrer”, affirmant poursuivre ce qu’elle a appelé une “existential struggle” pour défendre l’indépendance de la legal profession et de ses institutions.
