Casablanca – October 29, 2025 – Mr. Abdelatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, conducted an inspection visit this Wednesday afternoon at the المركب الرياضي محمد الخامس in Casablanca. The visit aimed to review the readiness of security arrangements prepared to secure the Casablanca Derby football match between الوداد الرياضي and الرجاء الرياضي. It also provided an opportunity to evaluate preparations related to Morocco’s hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations football tournament.
Details of the Inspection Visit
The tour covered various football stadium facilities and surrounding areas, reviewing the approved security operational plans. These plans included a sports safety protocol to secure the stadium and its access points, alongside traffic flow management intending to ensure smooth movement within different areas of Casablanca up to the stadium stands. The Casablanca Security Wali presented a detailed report highlighting the deployment of over 5,000 personnel from diverse security specializations, police units, and uniformed forces, in addition to mobilizing more than 150 security vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and riot control trucks. Advanced technological capabilities were also utilized, including vehicles equipped with surveillance cameras and high-precision drones.
Preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
During the visit, the readiness of security protocols designed to accompany Morocco’s hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was reviewed, focusing on adherence to the security and safety regulations set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). These efforts aim to ensure the successful hosting of this prominent continental sports event.
Comprehensive Security Strategy
This visit is part of the ongoing preparations by the General Directorate of National Security to secure continental and international sports competitions scheduled in Morocco. For some time, the Directorate has been engaged in establishing an integrated security strategy, including developing sports security teams, implementing international security cooperation programs with participating countries, and adopting the “Stadia” system in collaboration with INTERPOL. These steps aim to reinforce security and ensure the successful organization of future sports events.
