Dakhla – A joint security operation conducted by the National Police and Customs officials at the Guerguerat border crossing, south of Dakhla city, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, successfully foiled an international drug trafficking attempt, seizing 92.9 kilograms of cocaine.
The border control and inspection procedures led to the discovery of carefully concealed drug shipments hidden within the fuel tank cavities of an international freight truck bearing Moroccan license plates, arriving from a sub-Saharan African country.
The 25-year-old truck driver was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the smuggling operation. A preliminary investigation has been launched under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case, identify all individuals involved, and track the extent of these criminal activities both within Morocco and at regional and international levels.
This joint operation is part of the intensified and ongoing efforts by various security services at the Guerguerat border crossing to combat international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances, as well as to monitor and fight all forms of cross-border crime.
