The third edition of “GITEX Africa” officially kicked off this morning, Monday, April 14, 2025, in Marrakech, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The event is attended by prominent government and international figures, with extensive participation from leading global and African companies, alongside over 45,000 visitors from around the world.
The opening session of the exhibition, which will run until April 16, 2025, saw the presence of Aml Falah Saghrouchni, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Fred Shouraq, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, Chakib Al-Ajlaj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity in the UAE, Mohamed Idrissi Milyani, Director General of the Moroccan Digital Development Agency, along with other official personalities and economic stakeholders.
The session also featured a speech by the Prime Minister delivered via video conferencing, where he emphasized the strategic importance of this digital event in supporting the technological transformation of the African continent.
GITEX Africa is one of the continent’s largest tech events, showcasing the latest innovations in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, agricultural technology, digital health and education, and other vital sectors.
This year, Morocco’s participation has been strong and extensive, with a focus on showcasing locally developed advanced digital solutions aimed at supporting sustainable development and enhancing digital integration across various economic and social sectors. Particular emphasis has been placed on artificial intelligence applications in health and education, through projects focusing on smart disease diagnosis and interactive teaching methods supported by augmented reality technologies.
The exhibition also features the participation of approximately 200 Moroccan startups, supported by the Ministry of Digital Transition, which are showcasing advanced technologies in big data analytics and cloud computing—key components for developing a strong national digital infrastructure.
These startups are receiving significant attention from investors and visitors, given the government’s focus on supporting innovation and digital entrepreneurship as a strategic economic choice.
In statements to the media, the organizers confirmed that the exhibition represents a pivotal digital milestone for the African continent, providing an open platform for exchanging experiences and exploring the latest global trends in the digital field. They emphasized that hosting the event in Marrakech reflects Morocco’s advanced position in technological innovation across Africa.
It is expected that “GITEX Africa 2025” will contribute to strengthening public-private partnerships and open new avenues for regional and international cooperation, enhancing the country’s position as a rising digital hub and a key supporter of sustainable development in Africa.
