Tangier: Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, the 8th edition of the “Tangier Mediterranean Automotive Meeting” was inaugurated today in Tangier. The opening was overseen by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Businesses, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri. The meeting is organized by the Moroccan Association for Automotive Industry and Assembly (AMICA), in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, under the theme: “The Automotive Industry Between Opportunities and Risks.”
This event serves as a strategic platform to strengthen Euro-Mediterranean industrial cooperation in the automotive sector, bringing together a distinguished group of industrial and economic players to discuss the challenges and future prospects facing the industry, particularly concerning the transition towards electric and connected vehicles, as well as decarbonizing the industry.
During the meeting, two significant partnership agreements were signed:
- The First Agreement: Between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Businesses, Employment and Skills, the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), and the Moroccan Association for Automotive Industry and Assembly (AMICA), aimed at enhancing the integration of national skills into the automotive industry ecosystem.
- The Second Agreement: Between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and AMICA, with the objective of increasing the local integration rate in the automotive industry and boosting the added value of the sector’s exports.
It is worth noting that the automotive industry in Morocco achieved a record turnover in exports in 2024, reaching 157 billion dirhams, marking a growth of 148% in less than ten years. This achievement reinforces Morocco’s position as a leading African industrial hub and a competitive global platform in this field.
