PJD Congress: Akhannouch and Lachgar Not Invited, Hamas Invited

The Justice and Development Party (PJD) has announced that it will not invite Aziz Akhannouch and Driss Lachgar to its national congress, scheduled for April 26th and 27th.

Driss El Azami El Idrissi, the head of the congress’s preparatory committee, stated during a press conference held today, Wednesday, April 16th, to provide an update on the preparations for the event, that the party had extended invitations to all parties represented in Parliament, with the exception of certain figures, most notably Aziz Akhannouch and Driss Lachgar.

El Azami pointed out that this decision stems from the deep disagreements the party has with these two political leaders. Regarding Akhannouch specifically, the head of the congress’s preparatory committee emphasized: “It is not logical for us to criticize him for the ‘faraqchiya’ (a derogatory term referring to cattle importers and the significant subsidies they benefited from within the National Rally of Independents party) and conflicts of interest, and then invite him to attend our congress.”

The former Deputy Minister in charge of the Budget also announced that the party had extended an invitation to the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, among more than 25 foreign political entities.
