New Health Sector Compensation: 1000 Dirhams Per Month After Agreement with the Ministry

In a joint statement issued last Friday, the six trade unions working in the health sector announced that they had reached an agreement with the relevant ministry during a dialogue session held on Thursday, April 10, 2024. The agreement included several important measures regarding compensation for participation in national health programs.

The union coordination confirmed that the monthly compensation amount has been set at 1000 dirhams net, with an agreement on the method of payment and simplifying related procedures. A dedicated budget line has also been created for the allocation of these compensations as part of efforts to improve implementation mechanisms.

This compensation will benefit all employees working in preventive health institutions, hospitals, universities, administrative bodies, and central institutions, without exception. Additionally, the necessity of updating the current list of health programs and modifying it as needed, based on the minister of health’s decision, was emphasized.

The union statement noted that the ministry will issue a decree outlining the conditions and procedures for the disbursement of compensations as soon as possible. It also stressed the need to activate the dedicated budget line for this purpose. The unions addressed the delays in compensation payments, which had led to widespread protests in the sector, calling for the necessary financial allocations to settle the delayed compensations for the first nine months of 2024, and urged the acceleration of the payment process.

These developments come as part of the implementation of the July 23, 2024 agreement signed between the National Health Sector Union Coordination and the government. The ministry presented the key points of the draft regulatory text related to determining the conditions for receiving compensation for work and participation in national health programs.
