French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau Arrives in Rabat for Talks on Migration and Counter-Terrorism with Moroccan Counterpart

French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau is scheduled to arrive in Rabat late this Sunday afternoon for a two-day official working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. The French Minister is expected to meet with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit, to discuss a number of security files of mutual interest.

The discussions between the two ministers will particularly focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the area of regular migration and the fight against irregular immigration, notably the issue of undocumented individuals subject to Obligation de quitter le territoire français (OQTF) – orders to leave French territory.

The two sides will also address other vital issues related to combating organized crime in all its forms, confronting terrorist threats, and tackling drug trafficking networks operating between the two countries.

This visit takes place within the framework of the close and ongoing security cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic in various security fields, and reflects the keenness of both countries to strengthen this cooperation to face common security challenges in the region. These talks are expected to result in the activation of new mechanisms for cooperation and the identification of joint work priorities in the coming period.
