In his latest statement, government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas emphasized the crucial role of independent bodies, particularly high health authorities, in enhancing Morocco’s healthcare system. He stated that these entities play a vital role in ensuring the continuity of state functions in this critical sector through regulatory and technical oversight.
According to Baitas, the Supreme Health Authority is instrumental in assessing the quality of healthcare services provided by both public and private institutions. Some responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Health have been transferred to this authority, which now conducts comprehensive evaluations of healthcare service effectiveness and quality. Additionally, the authority contributes to shaping health policies by offering recommendations, particularly concerning mandatory health insurance.
Baitas further explained that the authority serves as an advisory body that provides insights on general health policy directions in both the short and medium term. Its role extends beyond oversight to active engagement with all stakeholders, including public and private sectors, to achieve the goals of the national healthcare system.
These independent entities aim to establish precise standards to enhance medical services, ensuring they align with the highest global benchmarks. Their ultimate goal is to keep Moroccan citizens at the center of healthcare priorities, guaranteeing improved access to high-quality medical services.
