The Istiqlal Party has called for the launch of an urgent national program to strengthen the country’s livestock reserves in light of the economic and climate challenges that have affected the sector in recent years.
During its regular meeting, chaired by Secretary-General Nizar Baraka, the party’s Executive Committee emphasized that the royal decision to forgo the Eid sacrifice this year presents an opportunity to implement this program. The goal is to address the shortage in livestock resources while providing direct support to small and medium-scale livestock breeders through measures tailored to their production capacities and regional specificities.
The party highlighted that the royal decision reflects King Mohammed VI’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden on citizens, particularly low-income families, in the face of economic and climate challenges that have led to a significant decline in livestock numbers.
In this context, the party also commended the government’s efforts to regulate prices and combat market speculation. It stressed the need to intensify monitoring mechanisms and take action against monopolistic practices and unfair competition in the markets. Additionally, the party called for the accelerated implementation of the government’s plan to reform the marketing and distribution systems for agricultural, livestock, and fisheries products. This reform aims to improve the income of small producers, regulate intermediaries, and stabilize prices in line with citizens’ purchasing power.
The Executive Committee meeting also addressed developments related to national territorial integrity, as well as the country’s economic and social conditions. The party reaffirmed the need for practical measures to tackle current challenges, ensure market stability, and improve living conditions for Moroccans.
