New Diplomatic Breakthrough for Morocco in Mexico: Calls to Withdraw Recognition of the “Pseudorepublic”

In a new diplomatic development bolstering Morocco’s position on the Sahara issue, strong calls have emerged within Mexican political circles urging the withdrawal of recognition of the so-called “pseudorepublic” and the establishment of normal relations with the Kingdom of Morocco. These calls were made by Jesús Sesma Suárez, the head of the Political Coordination Committee in the Mexico City Parliament and one of the prominent leaders of the Ecologist Green Party (PVEM).

This move follows earlier statements by the leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), who expressed support for Morocco’s stance and called for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Suárez is considered a prominent figure in the Mexican political scene, lending greater weight to his call, which comes as part of a diplomatic shift in favor of Morocco in Latin America.

In his remarks, Suárez emphasized that recognition of the “pseudorepublic” does not reflect the political and legal reality of the issue, noting that Morocco represents a model of stability and development in the region, necessitating a reconsideration of diplomatic positions on this matter. He also called for the establishment of normal relations with the Kingdom of Morocco, stating that this would benefit both countries.

This development comes as part of Morocco’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to solidify its legitimacy in the Sahara issue, having successfully garnered support from numerous countries in recent years, particularly after presenting the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as a realistic and final solution to the conflict.

The coming period is expected to witness further diplomatic moves that strengthen Morocco’s position on the international stage, especially in Latin America, where the Kingdom seeks to enhance its presence and expand its network of relations with countries in the region.

These calls come at a time when Morocco’s diplomatic efforts are witnessing consecutive positive developments, reflecting the success of the royal strategy in defending the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and reinforcing its international legitimacy.
