Rabat, Morocco: Moroccan official sources have denied the validity of what some websites and social media pages circulated about Moroccan singer Dunia Batma receiving a royal pardon on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and her release from the “Oudaya” prison in Marrakech.
The sources confirmed that Donia Batma’s name was not included in the list of those included in the royal pardon issued by King Mohammed VI of Morocco on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Last January, the Marrakech Court of Appeal upheld the first instance judgement against Dunia Batma, which sentenced her to one year in prison and a fine of 10,000 dirhams, following her conviction in the “Hamza Moon Baby” case.
The details of the case date back to the involvement of Donia Batma and her sister Iman, along with another artist, in blackmailing and grooming people through an Instagram account called “Hamza Moon Baby”.
The public prosecution had charged the defendants in the case with “electronic defamation”, “blackmail” and “sharing personal data without the consent of the owners”.
