The Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima upheld, on the morning of Thursday, April 23, 2026, the initial ruling sentencing MP and party leader Noureddine Moudiane to six months in prison and a fine of 150,000 dirhams. The case relates to charges of defamation, insult, and slander against his party colleague Rafiâa Mansouri.
The decision follows the completion of appellate proceedings, after the chamber specialized in cases of violence against women at the Court of Appeal had previously reserved the case for deliberation, setting April 23 as the date for delivering the judgment.
According to information from the hearings, the court granted additional time to review all elements and facts of the case, in line with applicable legal procedures, before issuing its final decision confirming the initial ruling.
The court of first instance had earlier handed down the same sentence, which was subsequently appealed. The case was then referred to the Court of Appeal, which ultimately upheld the original verdict after examining the case details.
This case falls within legal proceedings المتعلقة بجرائم defamation, insult, and slander under applicable laws, with continued emphasis on the presumption of innocence and the protection of the rights of all parties until all stages of litigation are fully exhausted.
