Paris – The young Moroccan child Nizar Talbi (12 years old), who has been receiving treatment in France since 2020 due to a rare illness, was welcomed today, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Paris, during a tribute ceremony attended by his mother and the medical team supervising his case.
Paris – Le jeune Marocain Nizar Talbi (12 ans), qui suit un traitement en France depuis 2020 en raison d’une maladie rare, a été accueilli ce mardi 17 février 2026 au siège de l’Ambassade du Royaume du Maroc à Paris, lors d’une cérémonie d’hommage en présence de sa mère et de l’équipe médicale chargée de son suivi.

During the ceremony, Nizar received a gift from the General Directorate of National Security consisting of a tailored national police uniform, presented to him by Morocco’s Ambassador to France, Samira Sitail. The gesture was intended as a sign of support for his medical journey and encouragement to pursue his dream of joining the police force in the future.
Lors de la cérémonie, Nizar a reçu un cadeau de la Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale consistant en un uniforme de la police nationale confectionné à sa taille, remis par l’Ambassadrice du Royaume du Maroc en France, Samira Sitail. Ce geste visait à soutenir son parcours thérapeutique et à l’encourager à poursuivre son rêve d’intégrer la police à l’avenir.

In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, the Ambassador described Nizar as “a child who embodies the meaning of daily resilience,” praising the dedication of his parents, especially his mother, who has accompanied him throughout a long treatment journey that began almost at birth on January 21, 2014, in Marrakech.
Dans une déclaration à l’Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse, l’Ambassadrice a décrit Nizar comme « un enfant qui incarne le sens de la résilience quotidienne », saluant l’engagement de ses parents, en particulier de sa mère qui l’accompagne dans un long parcours de soins entamé presque dès sa naissance le 21 janvier 2014 à Marrakech.

According to information presented during the ceremony, Nizar has faced a rare and serious digestive illness since the age of seven months, which required prolonged hospitalizations in Morocco before his transfer to Necker–Enfants Malades Hospital in Paris, and later to the Margency Children’s Hospital affiliated with the French Red Cross, where medical follow-up continued.
Selon les informations communiquées lors de la cérémonie, Nizar souffre depuis l’âge de sept mois d’une maladie digestive rare et grave, ayant nécessité de longues hospitalisations au Maroc, avant son transfert à l’hôpital Necker–Enfants Malades à Paris, puis à l’hôpital pour enfants de Margency relevant de la Croix-Rouge française, où le suivi médical s’est poursuivi.

For her part, the chief physician at Margency Hospital stated that the treatments provided are part of the continuity of care initiated in Morocco and Paris, noting that the medical team has ensured, alongside treatment, that the child continues his schooling and participates in age-appropriate activities.
Pour sa part, la médecin-cheffe de l’hôpital de Margency a indiqué que les soins prodigués s’inscrivent dans la continuité de la prise en charge entamée au Maroc et à Paris, précisant que l’équipe médicale veille, en parallèle du traitement, à permettre à l’enfant de poursuivre sa scolarité et de participer à des activités adaptées à son âge.

Following the meeting, Nizar’s mother expressed her deep emotion at the warm reception, thanking the various supporting parties, including the National Association for Social Action of National Police Employees and the French Ministry of the Interior.
À l’issue de la rencontre, la mère de Nizar a exprimé son émotion face à l’accueil chaleureux, adressant ses remerciements aux différentes parties soutenantes, notamment l’Association Nationale d’Action Sociale des Fonctionnaires de la Police Nationale ainsi que le ministère français de l’Intérieur.

The Vice-President of the Association also explained that her meeting with Nizar inspired the launch of a solidarity initiative for children suffering from serious illnesses in hospitals, aiming to provide them with a moment of human support and to strengthen trust between the police and society, within the framework of the “17.17” operation organized across France since 2020.
La vice-présidente de l’Association a également précisé que sa rencontre avec Nizar a été à l’origine du lancement d’une initiative solidaire en faveur des enfants atteints de maladies graves dans les hôpitaux, visant à leur offrir un moment de soutien humain et à renforcer les liens de confiance entre la police et la société, dans le cadre de l’opération « 17.17 » organisée à travers le territoire français depuis 2020.
