The regional director of water, forests, and the fight against desertification in Tetouan announced that a fire that broke out in the Mouklata forest after 2 AM on Monday, January 6, 2025, has been brought under control. Firefighting teams from the water and forests department, along with civil protection units, responded immediately upon being notified of the outbreak and managed to contain the flames after intensive efforts.
According to statements made, the fire resulted in damage estimated at over 100 hectares of dense forest cover, primarily consisting of trees and vegetation. The relevant authorities are also working to determine the causes of the fire and assess the affected areas.
Despite the rainfall experienced in the region, firefighting teams faced difficulties in controlling the blaze due to the rugged terrain, complicating their suppression efforts.
