Morocco’s Ambassador to France, Samira Sitayli, revealed new information regarding consular transit permits for the deportation of those residing illegally.
The Ambassador stated in her remarks: “To clarify the truth, I would like to provide a precise figure: we grant 80% of consular transit permits for all requests submitted to us.”
Sitayli explained that the real problem lies in the matter of identity verification, asking: “Can we grant a consular transit permit to a non-Moroccan person? Of course not.”
In this context, a report by the IFRAP Foundation indicated that irregular Algerian migrants “mostly seek to hide their Algerian nationality, falsely claiming they hold Moroccan nationality.”
The IFRAP Foundation report confirms that Algerian illegal immigrants systematically try to pass themselves off as Moroccans, in order to hide their Algerian nationality from French authorities.
“Investigations conducted in 2020 [by the Paris prosecutor’s office] establish that the individuals regularly lie about their nationality to prevent identification, with the vast majority trying to hide their Algerian nationality by falsely claiming Moroccan nationality…”
One might wonder if this systematic practice of passing off Algerian illegal immigrants, who are overrepresented in delinquency cases, as Moroccans, is part of a broader strategy by the Algerian regime to harm Morocco’s image in Europe.
