A number of judicial facilities were inaugurated in Tangier on Monday in the presence of Minister of Justice Abdellatif Wehbi, the delegated president of the High Council of the Judiciary, Mohamed Abdelnabawi, the King’s Solicitor General at the Court of Cassation and the head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Hassan Daaki.
The ceremony included the inauguration of the temporary headquarters of the Administrative Court of Appeal, the temporary headquarters of the Administrative Court of First Instance, the temporary headquarters of the Commercial Court of Appeal, and the new headquarters of the Commercial Court of First Instance.
It should be noted that the construction of the temporary headquarters of the Administrative Court of Appeal and the temporary headquarters of the Administrative Court of First Instance took place on a total area of 5,200 square meters, including 1,360 square meters covered, at a total cost of 2.125 million dirhams.
The project includes two bi-level wings containing the offices of the chancellors, the office of the first president, the emergency office, the front offices, the box, the staff offices, the office of the head of the control office, and the office of the special clerks and administrative management.
As for the temporary headquarters of the Commercial Court of Appeal and the new headquarters of the Commercial Court of First Instance, they were built on a total area of 1,844 square meters, at a cost of more than 9 million and 174,000 dirhams. The building of the Commercial Court of Appeal consists of two floors, one ground and one upper, and includes ten offices, including a judicial fee recovery office, a notification office, a presidency wing, and a prosecution wing.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the governor of El Fahs-Anjara region, heads of elected bodies, regional professional bodies, judicial and security officials, as well as representatives of associations and bodies of the judicial professions and heads of external services.
In a media statement, Minister of Justice Abdellatif Wehbi emphasized that the strengthening of judicial infrastructures in Tangier, the Kingdom’s second economic hub, is part of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to develop justice facilities and strengthen its infrastructure to increase the efficiency and quality of its services.
Wahbi explained that these efforts come within the framework of bringing judicial services closer to citizens and responding to the tremendous development in the region on both the developmental and economic levels.
For their part, the judicial officials emphasized that these judicial facilities represent an important step towards establishing a just and equitable judiciary that promotes equality before the law and achieves efficiency, effectiveness and transparency, in response to the royal directives.
They highlighted that the establishment of these judicial facilities reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to spreading specialized justice to all its regions, and strengthens cooperation between the independent judiciary and the governmental authority to activate the strategic plan of the judiciary and bring justice closer to litigants.
The ceremony also witnessed the installation of judicial officials recently appointed to the administrative and commercial courts of appeal and first instance in Tangier.
