The regional union coordination of the health sector in the Fes-Meknes region continues to escalate its protests to demand better conditions for workers in the sector, following the failure of negotiations with the government over their demands.
The coordination announced the organization of a massive regional march on Thursday, July 18, 2024, which will start from Florence Square towards the Fes-Meknes governorate, and the organization of a second regional march on July 23, 2024, the location and route of which will be determined in a later communiqué.
The union coordination hinted at the possibility of resorting to unprecedented forms of protest in the sector, if the government continues to ignore their demands.
The regional union coordination expressed its strong condemnation of the security approach with which the authorities confronted the protests of workers in the sector on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Rabat, which resulted in assaults and arrests among the protesters.
The regional union coordination held the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health fully responsible for the consequences of the severe tensions and paralysis that the health sector may witness, if the workers’ demands are ignored.
The national union coordination insists on implementing all the points of the sectoral agreement without any shortcomings, preserving all the historical gains of the health workers, including the status of public employee, the centralization of wages, amending laws 08.22 and 09.22, and officially implementing the agreement with the Prime Minister.
The coordination affirms its total rejection of the continued policy of exclusion practiced against some categories of health professionals in the administrative councils.
The regional union coordination announced its decision to resort to the Administrative Chamber of the Court of Cassation due to the inconsistency of the articles of Laws 08.22 and 09.22.
