As part of the ongoing security operations to combat illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the anti-gang squad in Salé, in close coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, managed on Thursday to arrest a person with several previous convictions, in possession of a large quantity of narcotics.
According to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security, the suspect was arrested at the railway station in Salé, immediately after his arrival on a train coming from Tangier, and was found in possession of 3,000 tablets of Ecstasy, 49 grams of cocaine, in addition to a sum of money suspected to be the proceeds of drug trafficking.
A judicial investigation was opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to uncover all the extensions and links of this criminal network, and to arrest all those involved in these criminal acts.
This operation is part of the intensive security efforts undertaken by the General Directorate of National Security and the National Surveillance Services to combat the phenomenon of drug smuggling and trafficking, which poses a serious threat to the security of society and the health of its members.
The General Directorate of National Security and the National Territorial Surveillance Services reiterate their determination to continue their efforts to combat drugs in all their forms, and warn anyone who promotes or traffics in them of the severe legal consequences.
