Social media pioneers have issued sharp warnings about the spread of the phenomenon of “shanaqa”, which is characterized by unclear sources and benefits that benefit the few at the expense of the many.
Activists began monitoring the use of “shanaka” after the end of the sacrificial season, as they began controlling the daily rental prices of homes and monopolizing parking on public streets, while occupying public beaches and attempting to impose unjustified fees on bathers.
The activists called on the responsible authorities to intervene firmly to curb this phenomenon, which may lead to continued extortion during summer vacations, exposing citizens to more financial pressure, and appealed to the authorities not to fail to confront these situations, which led to the inability of some families to bear the exorbitant costs during this season, prompting them to seek alternatives to places of recreation outside the country.
