Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, unveiled a new roadmap to fight traffic accidents on Morocco’s national roads through a joint strategy with the National Road Safety Agency (ANRS) to eliminate 340 black spots that have been identified.
Baraka told the House of Councillors on Tuesday that the ministry is determined to accelerate the pace of fixing these dangerous points, noting that 2023 has seen 15 black spots addressed, with a commitment to continue efforts at an accelerated pace in the coming period.
These efforts are part of a series of achievements made by the Ministry of Equipment and Water to improve road safety, including the rehabilitation of National Road 9 between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, as well as the rehabilitation of an 88-kilometer section of Regional Road 413 between Meknes and Souk El Arba.
These steps are a strong message from the Ministry of Equipment and Water that it is determined to reduce traffic accidents and ensure the safety of users of Morocco’s national roads through a robust strategy focused on addressing black spots and rehabilitating road infrastructure.
