Morocco and UAE.. High-level military talks in Rabat culminate in decoration of UAE Armed Forces Chief of Staff

Rabat – Lieutenant General Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, received on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the headquarters of the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces in Rabat, Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom at the head of a major military delegation.

The reception took place on the royal instructions of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, according to a statement from the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces.

The visit of the Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces to Morocco comes within the framework of his participation in the third meeting of the Moroccan-Emirati Joint Military Commission, held on October 5 and 6, as well as his attendance at the activities of the “Marrakech Air Show 2026” International Exhibition of Aeronautics and Space, scheduled to take place from October 7 to 10, 2026.

During the meeting, the two officials praised the level reached by military cooperation relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the areas of capability development, defense industry, training, and the exchange of expertise and experience.

In the same context, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to strengthen and develop this cooperation in line with the nature of the military relations existing between the two countries.

Following the meeting, Lieutenant General Mohamed Berrid and Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei jointly chaired the closing session of the third meeting of the Moroccan-Emirati Joint Military Commission, which concluded with a positive assessment and included a wide range of activities and programs in several strategic areas.

At the conclusion of this stage, the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces presented the Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces with the “Military Order of the Grand Cordon”, which had been awarded to him by King Mohammed VI in recognition of the efforts he had made to strengthen military cooperation relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

This decoration comes within the context of Moroccan-Emirati military cooperation spanning several decades. Its beginnings date back to 1980, with the signing of the first military agreement, before being further strengthened through the conclusion of a framework agreement in May 2006.

The work of the Joint Military Commission and the high-level meetings between the armed forces officials of the two countries reflect the continuation of Moroccan-Emirati coordination in the fields of training, education, capability development, defense industries, and the exchange of expertise, within the framework of long-term military cooperation.


Maroc et Émirats arabes unis.. Des entretiens militaires de haut niveau à Rabat couronnés par la décoration du chef d’état-major des forces armées émiraties

Rabat – Le général de corps d’armée Mohamed Berrid, inspecteur général des Forces armées royales et commandant de la Zone Sud, a reçu, mardi 6 octobre 2026 au siège du Commandement général des Forces armées royales à Rabat, le général de corps d’armée Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, chef d’état-major des forces armées des Émirats arabes unis, qui effectue une visite officielle au Royaume à la tête d’une importante délégation militaire.

Cette réception s’est déroulée sur instructions royales du Roi Mohammed VI, Chef suprême et Chef d’état-major général des Forces armées royales, selon un communiqué du Commandement général des Forces armées royales.

La visite du chef d’état-major des forces armées émiraties au Maroc s’inscrit dans le cadre de sa participation aux travaux de la troisième réunion de la Commission militaire mixte maroco-émiratie, tenue les 5 et 6 octobre courant, ainsi que de sa présence aux activités du Salon international de l’aéronautique et de l’espace « Marrakech Air Show 2026 », prévu du 7 au 10 octobre 2026.

Lors de cette rencontre, les deux responsables ont salué le niveau atteint par les relations de coopération militaire entre le Maroc et les Émirats arabes unis, notamment dans les domaines du développement des capacités, de l’industrie de défense, de la formation et de l’échange d’expertises et d’expériences.

Dans ce même contexte, les deux parties ont réaffirmé leur volonté de poursuivre le renforcement et le développement de cette coopération, conformément à la nature des relations militaires établies entre les deux pays.

À l’issue de la rencontre, le général de corps d’armée Mohamed Berrid et le général de corps d’armée Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei ont coprésidé la séance de clôture des travaux de la troisième réunion de la Commission militaire mixte maroco-émiratie, qui a abouti à un bilan qualifié de positif et comprenant un large éventail d’activités et de programmes dans plusieurs domaines stratégiques.

À l’issue de cette étape, l’inspecteur général des Forces armées royales a remis au chef d’état-major des forces armées émiraties l’« Ordre militaire du Grand Cordon », qui lui a été décerné par le Roi Mohammed VI, en reconnaissance des efforts qu’il a déployés en faveur du renforcement des relations de coopération militaire entre le Royaume du Maroc et les Émirats arabes unis.

Cette distinction intervient dans le contexte d’une coopération militaire maroco-émiratie qui s’étend sur plusieurs décennies. Ses débuts remontent à 1980, avec la signature du premier accord militaire, avant d’être renforcée par la conclusion d’un accord-cadre en mai 2006.

Les travaux de la Commission militaire mixte et les rencontres de haut niveau entre les responsables des forces armées des deux pays reflètent la poursuite de la coordination maroco-émiratie dans les domaines de l’entraînement, de la formation, du développement des capacités, des industries de défense et de l’échange d’expertises, dans le cadre d’une coopération militaire de longue durée.
