Morocco – As part of the celebrations marking the 27th anniversary of Throne Day, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has reinforced the security system in Nador by creating a Tourist Police Unit and a Special Elite Intervention Unit, in line with its strategy to modernize policing services and improve public safety.
The newly established Tourist Police Unit is tasked with ensuring the safety of visitors and tourist sites, assisting foreign visitors, and strengthening the police presence in areas with high tourist activity, thereby contributing to a safer and more welcoming environment.
In parallel, the Elite Intervention Unit has been created to enhance the operational capabilities of the National Police by providing rapid response to high-risk situations, supporting specialized operations, and reinforcing public security whenever required.
These new operational structures form part of the DGSN’s broader program to modernize its organizational framework, strengthen its human and logistical resources, and improve the quality and efficiency of police services throughout the Kingdom.
The initiative also reflects Morocco’s continued efforts to promote the concept of community policing, improve the quality of services offered to citizens and visitors, and adapt the national security system to evolving operational and security challenges.

The new Tourist Police Unit is responsible for ensuring the safety of tourists and visitors, securing tourist attractions, assisting foreign visitors, and increasing police visibility in high-traffic tourism areas, helping create a safe and welcoming environment.
At the same time, the newly established Elite Intervention Unit is designed to reinforce the National Police’s operational capabilities by providing rapid response to high-risk incidents, supporting specialized police operations, and strengthening public security whenever necessary.
These new units are part of the DGSN’s broader modernization program aimed at improving its organizational structure, enhancing logistical and human resources, and increasing the efficiency and quality of police services across the Kingdom.
The initiative reflects Morocco’s ongoing commitment to advancing community policing, improving services for both citizens and visitors, and adapting its security system to meet evolving operational and public safety challenges.
