Rabat – La Préfecture de police de Tétouan a catégoriquement démenti les informations accompagnant une vidéo largement diffusée sur les réseaux sociaux, dans laquelle un homme apparaît en train d’en agresser un autre. Les publications affirmaient à tort qu’il s’agissait d’une agression accompagnée d’un vol commise dans la ville de Tétouan.
Dans un communiqué publié vendredi, la police a indiqué que les investigations techniques et les vérifications menées immédiatement après la diffusion de la séquence ont confirmé qu’aucun fait criminel correspondant aux images n’avait été enregistré par les services de sécurité de la ville.
Les investigations ont également établi que la vidéo n’avait aucun lien avec Tétouan ni avec le territoire marocain. Selon les autorités, les images montrent en réalité un incident survenu dans la ville de Vitoria, en Espagne, où elles avaient déjà circulé dans plusieurs médias et plateformes d’information.
La Préfecture de police de Tétouan a souligné que la diffusion de telles informations erronées est susceptible de porter atteinte au sentiment de sécurité des citoyens, réaffirmant son démenti formel des allégations associées à cette vidéo.
Par ailleurs, les autorités ont précisé que les investigations se poursuivent sous la supervision du parquet compétent afin d’identifier les personnes impliquées dans la diffusion de ces fausses informations et d’engager les procédures judiciaires prévues par la loi.
Moroccan police dismiss viral video falsely linked to alleged assault and robbery in Tetouan
Rabat – The Tetouan Police Prefecture has firmly denied claims circulating on social media regarding a viral video showing one person assaulting another. The footage was accompanied by posts falsely alleging that it depicted a violent robbery that had taken place in the Moroccan city of Tetouan.
In a statement issued on Friday, the police said that technical investigations and inquiries launched immediately after the video surfaced confirmed that no criminal incident matching the scenes shown had been recorded by any local law enforcement services.
The investigation further established that the footage has no connection with Tetouan or Morocco. According to the authorities, the video actually documents an incident that occurred in the Spanish city of Vitoria, where it had previously been circulated by several media outlets and online news platforms.
The Tetouan Police Prefecture stressed that spreading such false claims undermines public confidence and creates unnecessary concern, reiterating its categorical denial of the allegations attached to the video.
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that investigations are continuing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to identify those responsible for producing and disseminating the false information and to take the appropriate legal action.
