Rabat – La présidente du Groupe d’amitié parlementaire Chili–Maroc, María Catalina Del Real Mihovilovic, a réaffirmé mardi à Rabat le soutien du groupe à la résolution 2797 du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies concernant la question du Sahara marocain, estimant que cette résolution consacre l’Initiative marocaine d’autonomie comme « une solution sérieuse et durable » au différend régional.
Cette déclaration a été faite à l’issue de ses entretiens avec le ministre des Affaires étrangères, de la Coopération africaine et des Marocains résidant à l’étranger, Nasser Bourita. La responsable parlementaire chilienne a indiqué que le Groupe d’amitié, composé de parlementaires de différentes sensibilités politiques au Chili, soutient pleinement les dispositions de la résolution onusienne relatives au Sahara marocain.
Sur le plan bilatéral, María Catalina Del Real Mihovilovic a souligné la position stratégique du Maroc en tant que porte d’entrée vers le continent africain. Elle a exprimé le souhait que le Chili puisse, de son côté, servir de plateforme au Maroc vers les marchés d’Amérique latine et de la région Asie-Pacifique, afin de renforcer la coopération économique et les investissements entre les deux pays.
Elle a également mis en avant les importantes perspectives de complémentarité économique entre Rabat et Santiago, notamment dans le secteur agricole, rappelant l’importance des engrais marocains pour l’agriculture chilienne. En parallèle, elle a évoqué les ressources minières stratégiques du Chili, notamment le cuivre et le lithium, essentiels au développement de l’industrie automobile en pleine expansion au Maroc.
Les membres de la délégation parlementaire chilienne ont par ailleurs exprimé l’intérêt de leur pays pour le développement de partenariats stratégiques avec le Royaume dans les domaines du dessalement de l’eau de mer, des technologies et du tourisme, illustrant ainsi la dynamique croissante des relations bilatérales.
Cette visite coïncide avec le 65ᵉ anniversaire de l’établissement des relations diplomatiques entre le Maroc et le Chili, ainsi qu’avec le 22ᵉ anniversaire de la visite officielle de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI au Chili. La présidente du Groupe d’amitié parlementaire a souligné que les relations entre les deux pays reposent sur une vision d’État qui dépasse les considérations politiques et partisanes.
Moroccan Sahara: Chilean Parliament Reaffirms Support for the Autonomy Initiative and UN Security Council Resolution 2797
Rabat – The Chairwoman of the Chile–Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, María Catalina Del Real Mihovilovic, reaffirmed on Tuesday in Rabat the group’s support for United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Moroccan Sahara, stating that the resolution endorses Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative as “a serious and lasting solution” to the regional dispute.
Her remarks came following talks with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. She stated that the parliamentary friendship group, which includes lawmakers from various political backgrounds in Chile, fully supports the provisions of the UN resolution concerning the Moroccan Sahara.
Regarding bilateral relations, Del Real Mihovilovic highlighted Morocco’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa and expressed hope that Chile could, in turn, serve as Morocco’s gateway to Latin American and Asia-Pacific markets, thereby strengthening economic cooperation and investment between the two countries.
She also emphasized the strong potential for economic complementarity between Rabat and Santiago, particularly in agriculture, noting the importance of Moroccan fertilizers to Chile’s agricultural sector. At the same time, she highlighted Chile’s strategic mineral resources, including copper and lithium, which play a key role in supporting Morocco’s rapidly growing automotive industry.
Members of the Chilean parliamentary delegation also expressed their country’s interest in developing strategic partnerships with Morocco in the fields of seawater desalination, technology, and tourism, reflecting the growing momentum of bilateral relations.
The visit coincides with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Chile and the 22nd anniversary of the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Chile. The Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group stressed that relations between the two countries are based on a long-term state vision that transcends political and partisan considerations.
