Sefrou – La 102e édition du Festival des Cerises (Hab Al Moulouk) a été officiellement lancée mercredi à Sefrou avec l’élection de Hiba Kharmam au titre de Reine de Beauté du Festival des Cerises 2026. Cette cérémonie constitue l’une des traditions les plus emblématiques de cet événement patrimonial historique.
L’annonce de la lauréate a eu lieu lors de la cérémonie d’ouverture organisée à Dar Caïd Omar (Palais de la Municipalité), en présence de personnalités officielles et d’acteurs de la société civile. Le programme du festival se poursuivra jusqu’au 27 juin avec diverses activités culturelles, artistiques et patrimoniales.
L’édition 2026 met particulièrement l’accent sur la valorisation des dimensions économiques et culturelles de la cerise, à travers des activités destinées à promouvoir le produit local ainsi que les richesses touristiques et patrimoniales de Sefrou et de sa région.
Cette manifestation est organisée par Ministère de la Jeunesse, de la Culture et de la Communication en partenariat avec la Province de Sefrou et la commune territoriale de Sefrou, dans le cadre des efforts visant à préserver le patrimoine culturel local et à renforcer le rayonnement de la ville comme destination culturelle et touristique.
Le Festival des Cerises est considéré comme l’un des plus anciens festivals du Maroc. Il bénéficie d’une reconnaissance internationale depuis son inscription en 2012 par UNESCO sur la liste du patrimoine culturel immatériel, en raison de sa valeur historique et de son rôle dans la transmission des traditions locales aux nouvelles générations.
Sefrou Cherry Festival Begins: Hiba Kharmam Crowned Queen of the 102nd Edition
Sefrou – The 102nd edition of the Cherry Festival (Hab Al Moulouk) officially opened on Wednesday in Sefrou with the crowning of Hiba Kharmam as the 2026 Cherry Festival Beauty Queen, a long-standing tradition that remains one of the most symbolic highlights of this historic cultural celebration.
The winner was announced during the opening ceremony held at Dar Caïd Omar (Municipal Palace), attended by government officials and representatives of civil society. The festival program will continue until June 27 and features a variety of cultural, artistic, and heritage-related activities.
This year’s edition seeks to highlight the economic and cultural significance of cherries through events showcasing local agricultural products, while also promoting the tourism and heritage assets of Sefrou and its surrounding areas.
The festival is organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in partnership with the Province of Sefrou and the Municipality of Sefrou as part of broader efforts to preserve local cultural heritage and strengthen the city’s profile as a cultural and tourism destination.
The Cherry Festival is one of Morocco’s oldest festivals and has enjoyed international recognition since 2012, when it was inscribed by UNESCO on the list of intangible cultural heritage, reflecting its historical importance and its role in preserving and transmitting local traditions across generations.
