FES NEWS MEDIA – PROVINCE OF SEFROU: The Province of Sefrou is witnessing intensive administrative and field coordination during the second half of October 2026 led by provincial authorities, in concert with security services and elected representatives, to address commuters’ and transport professionals’ demands regarding the organization of first- and second-category taxi transport and ensuring regular service along routes connecting Sefrou to neighboring urban and rural centers, notably Bhalil, Imouzzer Kandar, El Menzel, Ribat El Kheir, and Senhaja.

Local civil society, student, and professional associations in the Province of Sefrou had recently highlighted shortages in public transport capacity during evening peak hours, calling for stricter administrative monitoring to enforce official gubernatorial fare tariffs and prevent unilateral price hikes or unauthorized route modifications that directly affect the purchasing power of university students, employees, and seasonal workers.

Parallel Rural Road Upgrading Projects Across Sefrou Province

In parallel with efforts to improve transport services, technical departments of the Province of Sefrou and the Sefrou Provincial Council, in partnership with the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, are rolling out a package of road infrastructure projects aimed at widening and strengthening rural tracks and building engineering structures to end the isolation of agricultural and tourist villages, alongside urban rehabilitation works in Sefrou and Imouzzer Kandar.

Professional sources in the province emphasized that ongoing dialogue between the Economic Affairs Division of the Province of Sefrou and labor unions representing taxi drivers and operators is poised to establish a balanced regulatory framework that protects professional drivers facing fuel cost pressures while safeguarding citizens’ right to safe, regular transport at legal tariffs, with the right of reply remaining open to all stakeholders.
