Sefrou.. New fruit-tree planting project opens access to support for farmers

Sefrou – Sefrou Province is entering a new phase in supporting fruit crops with the launch of a tree-planting project based on an agroecological approach. The project targets farmers across the province and combines support for agricultural activity with efforts to address challenges related to climate change and natural resources.

The project, announced by the Sefrou Provincial Council in partnership with the Council of the Île-de-Vilaines district in the French Republic, provides opportunities for individual and collective participation in a planting operation involving several fruit trees, notably carob, almond, olive and fig trees.

The Provincial Council has set the period from September 28 to October 16, 2026, for submitting applications to benefit from the project at the registry office at the headquarters of the Sefrou Provincial Council, in accordance with the conditions established under the project.

The initiative requires the area allocated for planting to range between 0.5 and 1 hectare per farmer, with a commitment to comply with the applicable technical and environmental standards, particularly those relating to irrigation, maintenance and monitoring of the trees after planting.

The initiative is not limited to providing seedlings, as its approach also involves supporting farmers through technical and field-based guidance, with the possibility of selecting other varieties of fruit trees according to the agricultural characteristics of each territorial authority, as determined by the technical committee overseeing the project.

The project aims to support farmers in the province in enhancing the value of their land and increasing agricultural productivity, while encouraging production methods that are better suited to climatic conditions and promoting the rational use of water resources.

The project also falls within an approach aimed at strengthening rural development and supporting farmers, particularly by encouraging fruit crops that can provide sustainable income, contribute to the valorization of agricultural land and help reduce the factors driving rural migration.

Thus, the project places fruit-tree planting at the heart of a development approach in Sefrou Province, combining investment in land, support for farmers and adaptation to the transformations affecting agriculture and natural resources.

Sefrou..
