Depuis 2014, les deux pays ont mené plusieurs opérations sécuritaires conjointes ayant permis de démanteler des réseaux extrémistes et des cellules liées à des organisations terroristes. L’opération “Azteca” a constitué un tournant majeur dans ce partenariat, ouvrant une nouvelle phase de coopération basée sur une coordination opérationnelle étroite.
