Bahrain Reaffirms Absolute Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty Over Sahara: A Strategic Intercontinental Parliamentary Partnership

MANAMA – Fes News Media

In a firm stance reflecting the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two nations, the Kingdom of Bahrain has reaffirmed its full support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and the Autonomy Initiative as the only serious, realistic, and credible solution within the framework of Morocco’s territorial integrity.

Unyielding Support for Territorial Integrity

This renewed position was highlighted in a joint statement issued during the official visit of the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Councilors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, to Bahrain (January 12–16). The statement explicitly welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2797 (October 2025), describing it as a pivotal step toward a lasting political solution. This alignment underscores the shared vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Parliamentary Diplomacy: Bridging Africa and Asia

The high-level discussions between Ould Errachid and his Bahraini counterpart, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, outlined an ambitious roadmap for bilateral cooperation:

  • Asian Parliamentary Leadership: Morocco praised Bahrain’s upcoming presidency of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (starting January 2026), viewing it as a major boost for regional cooperation.
  • Transcontinental Bridge: Ould Errachid expressed Morocco’s commitment to bridging the gap between African and Asian parliaments, leveraging Morocco’s strategic position and African depth to enhance South-South dialogue.
  • Global Coordination: Both sides agreed to intensify mutual visits and unify positions in international forums to serve their respective national interests and stability.
