Taza – Professionals in the dual-transport sector in Taza escalated their protest actions late last week, organizing a sit-in with their vehicles in front of Bir Anzaran Mosque along the national road. The move aims to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to dysfunctions they say are negatively affecting their daily working conditions.
According to information obtained by Fes News, the protesters temporarily left their official stations, stressing that these areas have become increasingly occupied by street vendors as well as privately owned vehicles in an unregulated manner. They explained that this situation has created a state of disorder, disrupting the normal operation of dual transport services.
This escalation, the same sources add, comes within the framework of demands previously submitted by the Al Wahda Association for Dual-Transport Professionals to the competent authorities. The association addressed a request for a meeting to the President of the Urban Council on 3 June 2025, raising complaints related to station organization and the review of what professionals consider burdensome tax obligations.
In addition, the services of the Taza Provincial Governorate forwarded another complaint on 24 February 2025 to the local authorities. However, sector professionals affirm that these communications have not resulted in concrete measures on the ground.
In this context, the protesters reiterated a set of demands they described as urgent. They called for the immediate and complete clearing of the station from street vendors and private vehicles occupying it without legal basis, and urged the painting of the sidewalk adjacent to the station in red and white to prevent random parking.
Moreover, the professionals demanded the installation of clear traffic signage from all directions to define the area designated for dual-transport vehicles, in line with the municipal decision issued in 2006.
The sector’s professionals emphasized that this protest action is peaceful in nature, aimed at pressing for the enforcement of existing laws and the activation of previous regulatory decisions, in a way that safeguards their professional rights and helps restore order to this vital public facility.
