The Israeli military announced the conclusion of the third meeting of the joint military committee with Morocco, as part of what it described as efforts to “strengthen security cooperation” between the two countries. The meeting followed a series of discussions held in Tel Aviv earlier this week.
According to a statement published on the official Israeli military account on the “X” platform, the meeting was conducted under the supervision of planning and external relations bodies within the Israeli military institution. It resulted in the signing of a joint action plan for 2026, without disclosing further details regarding the composition of the Moroccan military delegation or the contents of the signed plan.
The same source indicated that the visit program included technical and professional meetings, as well as field tours of military units and facilities linked to the defense industries, in addition to meetings with specialized departments within the Israeli military system.
The statement added that these meetings culminated in the organization of a strategic discussion session devoted to exchanging views on capacity building and identifying the general objectives of cooperation between the two military institutions from a strategic perspective.
The Israeli military considered this meeting an additional step in the development of security relations with Morocco, describing Rabat as an “important partner in maintaining regional stability and security,” according to the statement.
This development comes as the two countries mark five years since the resumption of relations under the framework of the so-called Abraham Accords, announced in 2020, which also included the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan.
It is worth noting that Rabat and Tel Aviv signed a security cooperation agreement in November 2021 during a visit to Morocco by then Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz. This was followed by reciprocal visits by military officials from both sides. According to previous official Israeli statements, the agreement aims to regulate intelligence cooperation, develop joint projects in the field of defense industries, and establish training and coordination programs.
