The latest available data on food prices, updated through 31 December, indicate a general stability across most basic commodities, including vegetables, fruits, and red meat. Only limited changes were recorded for certain seasonal products, without reaching levels that would cause pressure or disruption in the market.
These indicators reflect a balanced situation at year’s end, as the majority of food items maintained the same price levels recorded during the previous week, in a context marked by stable supply and demand, alongside minor adjustments linked to seasonal factors.
Regarding vegetables, most varieties remained stable. Prices of tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, and squash stayed within their usual ranges, with no notable fluctuations. Cucumbers, eggplants, and various types of cabbage also maintained steady price levels.
A slight adjustment was observed in green onions, with a modest decrease in the upper price limit compared to the previous week, while no significant changes were recorded for other vegetables.
In the fruit segment, relatively more movement was noted due to seasonal dynamics. Avocado prices saw a slight increase at the upper end, while the maximum prices of both imported and locally produced bananas registered a limited decline.
Clementines recorded a decrease in their price range, while orange prices remained stable. In contrast, local grapes and pomegranates experienced a slight increase, whereas prices of both local and imported apples showed no significant change.
As for red meat, prices continued to show stability, with no changes compared to previous periods for either beef or lamb, reflecting market balance and the absence of pressure in this category at the end of the year.
Overall, these data highlight that national markets concluded the year in a balanced position, with broad stability in the prices of essential food products, aside from limited seasonal adjustments and without any notable tensions or sharp increases.
