Sidi Ali Lfahl Douar in Taza Trapped in Mud: Recurrent Isolation Fuels Rising Demands

A local source stated, in an audio message shared via the instant messaging application WhatsApp with Fes News, that residents of Sidi Ali Lfahl Douar, التابعة لجماعة طايفة بدائرة مكناسة الغربية بإقليم تازة, are facing difficult conditions due to the deterioration of the only dirt road linking the hamlet to its surroundings. Following recent rainfall, the track has turned into dense mud, making passage nearly impossible.

The same source explained that this road lacks any form of improvement or drainage system, rendering it impassable with every bout of rain. This situation effectively isolates residents and complicates access to basic services, particularly in emergency cases.

In a related development, the source referred to a deeply moving humanitarian incident involving the death of one of the douar’s residents. According to available information, the family was forced to remain inside the hamlet with mourners for nearly eight days before being able to leave, after securing an exceptional means of transport—a farm tractor—due to the impossibility of crossing the muddy track.

The local source also condemned the absence of intervention by elected officials and local authorities to date, despite the recurrence of this situation with every rainfall and the resulting hardship and isolation endured by residents. The source expressed surprise that the situation has persisted without practical measures to ensure a minimum level of mobility.

According to observers of local affairs, this situation once again raises the issue of the fragility of rural road infrastructure, particularly in areas reliant on unpaved tracks, which are prone to disruption with every weather disturbance.

In this context, a number of residents have renewed their calls for intervention by the competent authorities at both local and provincial levels, urging the rehabilitation of the dirt road or the adoption of a simple, sustainable technical solution that would ensure safe mobility and reduce residents’ suffering, in order to prevent the recurrence of such cases.

Fes News affirms that it is conveying these accounts as part of objective news reporting on the conditions experienced by residents, and reiterates its readiness to publish any clarifications or official information from the concerned authorities, in respect of the right of reply and in line with professional ethics.
