Taza — Local stakeholders have raised questions regarding the situation of the Mental Health and Psychiatric Department at Ibn Baja Provincial Hospital in the city of Taza, amid what they described as “human resources constraints,” according to unconfirmed information circulated locally in recent days.
According to these stakeholders, the department is reportedly facing difficulties linked to the prolonged absence of the specialist physician assigned to it, in addition to delays in the arrival of two doctors who were expected—according to the same sources—to take up their duties at the beginning of the 2026 fiscal year. As of now, no official explanations have been issued regarding the reasons for this delay.
In this context, the same stakeholders raised several questions, including the nature of the measures taken in response to the repeated absence of the physician in charge of the department, as well as the situation of the two doctors scheduled to strengthen health human resources in Taza Province, and the reasons behind their non-arrival within the expected timeframe.
Local stakeholders also expressed concern about what they consider increasing pressure on the nursing staff working in the department, noting that the continuation of this situation—if confirmed—could pose challenges to the continuity of healthcare services provided to a category of patients who require special care and regular medical follow-up.
Observers of local health affairs emphasize that the mental health and psychiatric department is among the most sensitive units within the healthcare system, given the nature of the cases it handles. This, they argue, calls for the provision of sufficient human resources and the stability of medical staff, in order to avoid any potential shortcomings in patient care.
As Fes News publishes this information within the framework of relaying questions raised by local stakeholders, it stresses that the circulating information remains unofficial and requires clarification from the competent authorities—foremost among them the administration of Ibn Baja Provincial Hospital and the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
The newspaper reiterates its readiness to publish any official clarifications or data as soon as they are received, in respect of the right of reply, in adherence to professional ethics, and in commitment to providing accurate information that serves citizens’ right to be informed.
