Ongoing Hardship Amid Widespread Anger… A Single Road Deepens the Isolation of Douars in the Rbaa El Fouqi Commune, Taza

Taza — Residents of the douars of Al Qalaa and Dar Benayou, التابعة to the Rbaa El Fouqi commune in Taza Province, continue to endure renewed hardship due to the deterioration of the only road artery connecting the area to its surroundings. Recent rainfall has further exacerbated the fragility of this unpaved route.

According to information reported by local stakeholders, the poor condition of this road section has made daily movement increasingly difficult for residents—especially patients and students—and has hindered access to several basic services, in the absence of any alternative routes capable of ensuring a minimum level of safety and continuity.

Sources on the ground indicated that this track constitutes the area’s sole outlet, meaning that any degradation in its structure directly deepens isolation, particularly during rainy periods. This situation, according to speakers, raises questions about the planning and implementation of rural de-isolation projects within the commune.

In the same context, local stakeholders expressed hope that the competent authorities would respond to this situation by taking urgent measures to rehabilitate the concerned road section, in a manner that guarantees residents’ right to mobility and alleviates their daily suffering—especially under harsh weather conditions.

At the same time, activists on social media circulated videos and images documenting the road’s condition. One user commented: “Imagine these residents having to travel nearly six kilometers through mud just to reach a semi-paved road,” highlighting persistent territorial disparities affecting some rural areas. Another comment described the current situation as reflecting, in the commenter’s view, shortcomings in local governance—an opinion expressed within the framework of personal views and not necessarily reflecting official positions.
