Abdellatif Hammouchi Approves High-Level Security Appointments… Fes Concerned

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced, on Wednesday afternoon, December 31, a new series of appointments to senior responsibility positions within several decentralized security services. The appointments concern the cities of Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Beni Mellal, Sidi Bennour, Zemamra, Rabat, Salé, and Oujda.

According to the Directorate, these appointments form part of an ongoing internal dynamic aimed at strengthening governance within the public security service, through injecting new blood and appointing young yet experienced security officials capable of effectively contributing to the enhancement of citizens’ safety and the protection of their property.

Based on official information, this movement covered ten leadership positions, including the appointment of a deputy head of a security district and a head of the provincial department for information and communication systems in Marrakech, as well as the appointment of a head of a judicial police unit within the Fes Police Prefecture.

The appointments also included assigning leadership roles to security officials heading other departments of public security and general intelligence in Tangier, Beni Mellal, Sidi Bennour, and Zemamra, in addition to the Rabat–Salé Airport Security District and the special police commissioner’s office at Oujda Angad Airport.

The General Directorate of National Security stressed that the selection of the appointed officials was based on criteria of professional competence, integrity, and functional experience, ensuring optimal implementation of the adopted security strategy. This strategy focuses on strengthening the sense of security, improving the quality of police services, consolidating a communication-based approach, and reinforcing the openness of the security institution to its surrounding environment.

These appointments come as part of continued efforts to modernize and develop the work of security services, in line with citizens’ expectations and in step with evolving approaches to managing security affairs at both the local and national levels.
