Crackdown on AFCON Ticket Black Market: National Security Intelligence Vigilance Leads to the Arrest of 118 Individuals

Security operations carried out by services of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to combat ticket scalping and the illegal resale of football match tickets—during the first phase of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco—have resulted in the arrest of 118 individuals. Those arrested have been subjected to judicial investigations under the supervision of the territorially competent public prosecutors.

Available information indicates that the National Security’s intelligence vigilance system detected dozens of advertisements and posts on social media platforms offering tournament match tickets for sale through illegal channels and at prices exceeding their official value. Technical investigations and field interventions enabled the identification and arrest of suspects in several cities across the Kingdom, particularly those hosting matches of this continental competition.

According to the same sources, the acts attributed to the suspects range from the illegal sale of tickets, forgery and use of forged documents, and tampering with electronic data processing systems, to fraud and scams targeting individuals seeking to purchase tickets on the black market. The charges also include the creation and dissemination of false news related to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations football competition.

Judicial investigations have been opened against the individuals concerned by order of the competent public prosecutors. Some suspects have been brought before the courts in custody, while others are being prosecuted while at liberty, depending on the nature of the alleged acts and the level of their involvement.

Meanwhile, security sources confirm that these operations are ongoing in close coordination between security services and the competent local authorities, with the aim of combating all forms of ticket scalping related to AFCON matches—whether through intelligence monitoring or field interventions—so as to identify and apprehend those involved, ensure public protection, and uphold lawful channels for ticket sales.
