Urgent: Digital Content Observatory Warns of “Fraudulent Link” Targeting Moroccans Under the Name of “Afriquia”

Fes News | Cyber Security

The Digital Content Observatory has issued a stern warning to citizens, urging them to exercise extreme caution regarding suspicious links being widely circulated on social media platforms, particularly the “WhatsApp” application.

Identity Theft and Misinformation

According to available data, the aforementioned link is being falsely attributed to the “Afriquia” company (Akwa Group). It deceives users by promising prizes or offers in celebration of the Africa Cup of Nations. However, no official confirmation has been issued by the company regarding such a campaign, suggesting it is a “Phishing” attempt aimed at stealing personal data or compromising devices.

Digital Safety Tips

In this context, technical experts urge all users to follow these instructions:

  • Do Not Click: Avoid clicking on any link from an unknown source or one that lacks credibility.
  • Data Protection: Completely refrain from entering phone numbers or banking information on unofficial pages.
  • Verify the Source: Always refer back to the official, verified accounts of companies (marked with the blue checkmark) to confirm any offers.
  • Stop the Circulation: Do not contribute to spreading these messages to avoid being a link in the fraud chain.

The Observatory concluded its statement by emphasizing that “Digital safety is everyone’s responsibility,” calling on the relevant authorities and the “Afriquia” company to issue an official clarification to inform the public and block those lurking for citizens’ data.
