Tahla.. Woman Suffering from Severe Psychological Disorders Repeatedly Breaks Car Windows and Throws Stones Without Official Intervention

In local circles in the municipality of Tahla, belonging to Taza province, the actions of Ms. Maria, who suffers from acute psychological and mental disorders, have caused growing concern. On the night of December 8, she broke the window of a citizen’s car parked in front of his home, repeating previous behaviors that threatened the safety of residents and their property.

According to testimonies from area residents, Maria, a young woman, previously broke the windows of five cars at once on a public street, in addition to recently becoming a daily source of danger by throwing stones at passersby and homes, emitting loud screams during the night and early morning while in a state of complete nudity, which disrupts the daily life of families in the area and creates a state of terror among children and adults alike.

The most controversial aspect is the lack of intervention by competent authorities, as local sources confirmed that the local authority in Tahla is fully aware of these repeated actions, without taking any immediate measures to refer her to the psychiatric and mental illness ward at Taza Provincial Hospital to receive necessary treatments. These sources indicated that officials at the mentioned ward had received Maria on previous separate occasions, but she was released after less than two days in a more aggressive state, reflecting a lack of treatment capabilities and continuous care within the health facility, which lacks supportive means for recovery, such as rehabilitation programs and regular psychological follow-up.

Residents of Tahla, in statements to Maghreb Arab Press, expressed their extreme dissatisfaction with this negligence, considering that leaving the patient on the street exposes everyone to serious risks and exacerbates her personal suffering, emphasizing the need for immediate coordination between the local authority and health authorities to ensure her referral to a specialized facility that provides complete care. Local associations also called for strengthening community awareness about psychological disorders, emphasizing that such cases require humane and professional intervention that protects both the patient and society.

It should be noted that this incident comes in a previous context, where Maria broke the windows of more than six cars parked on various streets on December 7, which sparked a local media campaign calling for urgent intervention to save her from homelessness and loss, while maintaining the city’s calm and the safety of its residents. This situation is evidence of the urgent need to strengthen the mental health system in rural areas, where many patients suffer from a lack of appropriate support, leading to the exacerbation of social problems.
