Wild boar poses a growing threat in Sefrou Province, becoming an imminent danger to farmers, shepherds, and olive harvesters in the region. These wild animals are widespread in areas characterized by dense vegetation cover, such as forests, which allows them to spread easily and hide in hard-to-reach places, increasing the risk of their attacks on local residents.
In recent days, the region has experienced several wild boar attack incidents, the most notable of which occurred in the Oulad Amkoudou area (Malaha), where two people sustained serious injuries while harvesting olives. According to local sources, one of the victims suffered severe wounds, while the other sustained injuries of no less severity, necessitating their transfer to the hospital for treatment.
In another tragic incident, one of the victims died immediately after leaving the University Hospital of Fes after receiving necessary medical care. These incidents demonstrate the ferocity of attacks to which citizens can be exposed, especially in areas where wild boar are present.
This type of boar is considered a nocturnal animal, emerging at night to search for food and hiding during the day in wooded and rugged areas, which complicates control efforts. Therefore, shepherds and farmers must take necessary precautionary measures to avoid potential attacks, such as avoiding approaching areas known for wild boar presence during nighttime.
On another note, it has become necessary for local officials to take urgent measures to limit the spread of these wild animals, whether through containment operations or other effective means. The danger posed by wild boar to citizens’ lives and their crops necessitates urgent action by competent authorities to ensure residents’ safety and preserve their property.
Given the increasing attack incidents, area residents are calling on concerned authorities to intensify efforts to eliminate this phenomenon that has come to threaten their lives and livelihoods.
