Mr. Al-Mahdi Maa Al-Ainin Boulon, of Saharan origins and residing in the American city of Boston, is considered one of Morocco’s finest men who courageously and competently defended the Moroccan Sahara cause in the halls of the UN Fourth Committee for consecutive years.
He contributed, alongside a group of Moroccans around the world, to clarifying the Moroccan vision based on the autonomy initiative as a serious, realistic, and credible solution to end the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
His fruitful efforts came as the culmination of a long path of committed diplomatic work, crowned by the positive resolution issued on October 31, 2025, which once again confirmed the growing international support for Morocco’s proposal and its efforts aimed at achieving stability and development in its southern provinces.
In a phone call with him, the speaker told Fes News that we “have entered the greater jihad in order to contribute to consolidating the autonomy project seriously as stated in draft resolution 2797.”
The Security Council adopted the resolution with a majority of 11 votes, with Russia, China, and Pakistan abstaining, and Algeria not participating. The resolution extends the mandate of the MINURSO mission until October 31, 2026, and welcomes proposals from the parties in response to the autonomy initiative, considering it “the most viable solution.” This achievement is the culmination of intensive diplomatic efforts, supported by growing international endorsement of Morocco’s position.
