Casablanca – November 1, 2025 – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced today the launch of a special aircraft featuring a distinctive commemorative design with red colors and symbols inspired by African culture and the spirit of sports competition, celebrating the Kingdom’s hosting of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 finals. This announcement comes within the framework of a strategic partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which designated the company as the “official international partner” of the tournament, with the aim of transporting more than half a million fans and facilitating the movement of national teams and spectators.
Design Details and Initiative
In its official statement, the company described the aircraft as “a symbol of pride, passion, and unity,” with red color dominating the design, along with artistic elements reflecting African diversity and football enthusiasm. This aircraft will be operated as part of an exceptional air transport plan including 660 special flights during the tournament period (from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026), connecting Moroccan host cities such as Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Tangier with African and European countries. The plan also includes dedicated flights for the 54 participating national teams, ensuring a smooth and safe experience for visitors.
This initiative comes as part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its fleet, as it anticipates receiving 20 new aircraft during the current and coming years, including 10 aircraft before the end of 2025, to meet the increased demand during the tournament and hosting of the 2030 World Cup jointly with Spain and Portugal.
Strategic Context and Partnership with CAF
Royal Air Maroc concluded a historic partnership agreement with CAF in April 2025, making it the official global partner for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, in addition to the Women’s Championship in July 2025. This partnership aims to project Morocco’s image as a major African platform for sports and culture, by facilitating air access and enhancing economic and tourism exchanges. According to the company’s estimates, the event will contribute to increasing passenger traffic by up to 30%, with a focus on overnight flights to ensure visitors arrive in the morning to follow the matches.
Economic and Sports Implications
This launch is a symbolic step that enhances Morocco’s position as a leading country in continental sports, as the tournament is expected to attract more than 500,000 fans, boosting the local economy through tourism and hospitality. It also reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening African ties, as it currently connects 25 African destinations and seeks to expand the network to include more African countries.
