Tan-Tan – Les activités de la 22e édition des exercices conjoints « African Lion 2026 » entre les Forces Armées Royales et les forces américaines se sont achevées vendredi dans la région de Cap Draa, près de la ville de Tan-Tan. Cet événement militaire a connu une large participation de forces issues de plusieurs pays, ainsi qu’une démonstration de technologies militaires modernes et un renforcement de la coopération défensive entre Rabat et Washington.
Tan-Tan – The 22nd edition of the joint “African Lion 2026” exercises between the Royal Armed Forces and U.S. forces concluded on Friday in the Cap Draa area near the city of Tan-Tan. The military event witnessed broad participation from forces representing several countries, alongside demonstrations of modern military technologies and strengthened defense cooperation between Rabat and Washington.

Les manœuvres ont inclus de vastes exercices terrestres et aériens comprenant des opérations de défense, d’attaque et de contre-attaque, avec l’utilisation de chars « Abrams », d’hélicoptères « Apache », de bombardiers « B-52 », ainsi que de chasseurs « F-16 » appartenant aux Forces Armées Royales.
The exercises included extensive ground and air drills involving defense, attack, and counterattack operations using “Abrams” tanks, “Apache” helicopters, “B-52” bombers, and “F-16” fighter jets operated by the Royal Armed Forces.

L’édition de cette année s’est également distinguée par l’intégration de technologies avancées dans les opérations militaires, notamment des systèmes d’intelligence artificielle, des technologies anti-drones et des robots d’attaque, dans le but de renforcer la coordination opérationnelle et d’améliorer la préparation des forces participantes face aux menaces complexes.
This year’s edition also stood out through the integration of advanced technologies into military operations, including artificial intelligence systems, anti-drone technologies, and attack robots, with the aim of strengthening operational coordination and enhancing the readiness of participating forces to face complex threats.

Lors des activités de clôture, des responsables militaires marocains et américains ont affirmé que les exercices « African Lion 2026 » reflètent le niveau avancé du partenariat stratégique entre le Maroc et les États-Unis, tant sur le plan militaire qu’humanitaire.
During the closing activities, Moroccan and American military officials stated that the “African Lion 2026” exercises reflect the advanced level of strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, both militarily and humanitarianly.

À l’issue des exercices militaires conjoints, le site de Cap Draa a accueilli une cérémonie officielle marquant la réception par le Maroc du deuxième lot d’hélicoptères de combat américains « Apache AH-64E », en présence de personnalités militaires et civiles marocaines et américaines.
Following the conclusion of the joint military drills, Cap Draa hosted an official ceremony marking Morocco’s reception of the second batch of American “Apache AH-64E” combat helicopters, attended by Moroccan and American military and civilian officials.

Un communiqué de l’État-Major général des Forces Armées Royales a précisé que cette livraison comprend sept nouveaux hélicoptères de combat reçus le 8 mai, dans le cadre du programme de modernisation et de développement des capacités défensives du Royaume.

L’édition 2026 a réuni plus de 5 000 militaires représentant près de 40 pays, ainsi que des observateurs issus de 17 États, avec l’organisation d’activités terrestres, aériennes et maritimes, ainsi que d’exercices liés à la lutte contre les armes de destruction massive.
The “African Lion” exercises are considered the largest multinational military drill on the African continent.
