Rabat – November 1, 2025 – The National Office of the Moroccan Higher Education and Scientific Research Union issued an official statement welcoming the positive developments regarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, following the adoption by the United Nations Security Council of a resolution recognizing the self-governance initiative in the Moroccan Sahara as the sole basis for a political solution, while maintaining national sovereignty.
The National Office held a virtual meeting via video conference on the night of Friday, October 31, 2025. Its members seriously and responsibly discussed the history of the manufactured conflict over the Moroccan Sahara and the significant sacrifices made by the Moroccan people defending their foremost national cause. The meeting also affirmed the centrality of territorial unity in the union’s discourse, announcing the following key points to the university, academic, and national public:
- Consolidating the Moroccan Identity of the Sahara: The resolution crowns a long struggle under wise royal leadership and confirms the realism of the Moroccan proposal amid current international balances.
- Opening New Development Horizons: This historic shift will lead to positive turning points towards development and stability in the countries of the region, including the Sahel and Sahara, and will strengthen neighborly relations based on mutual trust to build strong regional blocs on all levels.
- Thwarting Attempts to Fragment: The solution will help frustrate all plans aiming to divide and fragment regional stability.
The National Office expressed its high appreciation for this historic decision, confirming the readiness of the union at all local, regional, and national levels, along with all its members and supporters, to defend the Kingdom of Morocco’s national constants in all international forums, foremost among them the territorial unity of the Kingdom.
This statement comes as part of the union’s continuous support for national policies related to the Moroccan Sahara issue, affirming the academic sector’s role in raising national awareness.
